Staying in a hotel in Bruges is at least as good as staying in a hotel in Parijs or in an Amsterdam hotel in the city centre.

It's a small city but there's so much to discover. Every tourist should do like me: begin with a guided walking tour to the heart of the city with its magnificent Grand Place filled with quaint houses featuring decorated facades, the Halles - covered market - with its belfry, the Place du Bourg with the Saint Sang Basilica, the Gothic style Townhall and the Beguinage - Beguine Convent. TA cruise on the famous canals is very recommended during the summer season, due to the great weather (usually the best weather around mid july). During high season, Bruges is absolutely submerged in tourists. ake enough time for lunch and shopping, you might buy some handmade lace or Belgian chocolates...

 Comments

Why go to Bruges?

Fancy old historical cities? Then you should definitely pay Bruges a visit and book one of the many fine Bruges hotels for a weekend or longer. Cobbled streets, with something new and intriguing around every corner. Cute individual shops selling everything from designer clothes, hand made lace and the finest chocolates to some of the high end designer boutiques. Bruges has it all.

I love staying in a hotel in Brugge because it is a city that is easy on the eye, and if you get there, you'll know what I mean. Calming, relaxed and aesthetic. It is also a romantic city, attracting couples much the same way as Paris (but without the exorbitant costs). Spending time in a Bruges hotel will soon convince you of the fact that Bruges is vibrant, alive and is sure to give you a real sense of vitality - it appeals to all ages, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and cost effective break away. Easy to get to, You can drive over, train it over or plane it over and then relax in one of the lovely character hotels within the city.

One of the best reasons to go to Bruges is the food! Many many hotels Bruges offer some of the best gastronomic diners you can imagine. But you can ofcourse also try to keep things simple, what is really nice (particularly on a cold day / night) and whilst taking a leisurely stroll through the city is stopping off at the "Groot Markt" at one of the "Friteurs" and treating yourself to a bag of real Belgian Frites dowsed in mayo, Ketchup and mustard as most flems tend to do, then (and only if there is any room left) you can treat yourself to a large fresh waffle with creme and cherries. Of course the diet needs to be on hold for this experience, but they do often say that the simple things are often the best!

Finding a favorite hotel in Brugge is like asking to choose your favorite chocolate from a box of creme centres! I love them all. Of course I would seeing as I contract them, though what is important when selecting a hotel Brugge centrum is ensuring that the overall quality and service match the destination type. Generic hotels have no place in a city like Bruges and as most of the Brugge hotels are small and intimate which is ofcourse really nice!

Bruges, city of a thousand faces.

A Citytrip to Bruges will be one of the finest citytrips you will ever experience.

To visit Bruges is to return in time. Some places in Bruges are absolutely must do's when you walking through this marvellous city.

Put your climbing shoes on and visit the mediaval belltower. The view from the belfry is superb and really adds to your visit of medieval Bruges

Visit the Basilic of the Holy Blood, where a relic Christ's blood is held. This old roman church is the oldest church in Bruges.

Take a tour on the canals of Bruges and let yourself be carried away in times past.

Take a tour using "carries and horse" it is really a relaxing way of exploring historic Bruges.

The enourmous choice of hotels in Bruges makes a quick choice of a hotel to your liking a bit difficult. Bruges offers everything from small family owned and runned hotels to big luxurious hotels in Bruges with all possible comfort . We have highlighted a few of the hotels in Bruges where you could stay during your visit of Bruges. They offer the best price/quality accomodation in Bruges .

Some people opt for a hotel in Brussels or a hotel in Antwerp and visit Bruges from there by train. Of course travel time is not to long but you will most certainly not experience Bruges the way you should. Bruges is a lot more attractive city than Brussel or Antwerp. And to be honest I believe that a hotel in Bruges should be the base to visit Brussels or Antwerp.

Gastronomically there is one address I would recommend as we have had a terrific dinner over there and that is restaurant Aneth. just a 10 min walk from the main square but definitely worth it.

From your hotel in Bruges you can easily visit the coastal region with cities like Ostend and Knokke-Heist. The Belgian coast can be beautiful intermezzo of your visits to the musea. A bikeride of 1.30 will take you easily to the coast..

Have fun in Bruges
